TL11G B Class Lock

Smartlock Digital’s very popular TL11G B Class Lock

Operating since the late 1980s, Smartlock Digital is a supplier of high security electronic safe and ATM locks to trade, OEM and Security Construction Equipment Committee (SCEC) Approved Locksmiths and is a division of the Davcor Group Pty Ltd.

Smartlock Digital’s Divisional Business Manager, Geoff Plummer, has in excess of 20 years experience in the locksmithing trade and has been with Smartlock Digital for over 10 years. Mr Plummer is also responsible for the management of Electronic Keying Australia (EKA) Pty Ltd – a related entity, which retails the Cyberlock Electro Mechanical Master Keying System.

Smartlock Digital’s vision is drawn from the company’s core values. They strive for innovation, seeking the contrarian point of view (challenging orthodoxy), focusing on their brands (making sure their products meeting their customer’s requirements), and seeking systems that enable productivity for the people who can bring all of this to bear.

Their specialty is understanding the needs and the wants of the end users.  They do this through regular meetings and contact with the people who use their products everyday, and in the case of government, people such as the Agency Security Advisors who are the first port of call for staff who have questions about using B Class Locks.  Smartlock Digital also offers the end users training and access to Smartlock Digital’s technical support team to help them with their questions and problems. “This means that the end users are helped quickly and efficiently while our customers such as the SCEC Endorsed Locksmiths are free to focus on the face to face, install and service work which is their core of their business.  Everyone gets to focus on what they do best and most importantly the end user of the locks is helped every step of the way,” says Mr Plummer.

The bulk of the company’s Defence related work is the supply of the TL11G, Smartlock Digital’s widely used B Class Lock.

Outside Defence, the company has supplied tens of thousands of locks to its customers who have fitted them to safes and ATMs supplied to the major financial institutions, retailers and fast food chains. “We are the supplier of choice for all of the major safe manufacturers and we also supply to the smaller manufacturers. Very few, if any, manufacturers of safe and ATM equipment would not at least offer our locks as an option. Most provide them as standard,” Mr Plummer said.

So what makes Smartlock Digital special? Mr Plummer believes it is the extensive knowledge of their products and knowing them inside and out. “We have been distributing, training and supporting electronic locking products into the market for over 20 years.  We have low staff turnover and our tech support team is without peer.”

Mr Plummer says the relationship between Defence and Industry is in great shape and relationships are strengthening, “Defence is large and that should not be a surprise to anyone. The key is understanding what you have to offer and then focusing on the defence channels which require your product or service.” Mr Plummer said small and medium enterprises can focus on niches and excel, which allows the “general practitioners” (in Smartlock Digital’s case the Agency Security Advisors, Unit Security Officers and Security Practitioners) to identify a need (for example, locks) and then call in the specialists to fulfill the requirement.
