Prime Contractor: BAE Systems Australia Defence Pty Ltd (formally Tenix Defence)

SEA1654 is replacing the Navy's existing afloat support capability. HMAS Westralia was replaced in 2006 and the planned withdraw date of HMAS Success is 2015 – 2017.

The afloat support capability increases the effectiveness of the Navy’s Surface Combatant and Amphibious Forces.

With the withdrawal of HMAS Westralia in October 2006, HMA Ships Success and Sirius support the two-ocean basing policy and provide the sustainment necessary for surface combatant task groups to operate in the expansive waters of the region.

The replacement of HMAS Success is a currently unapproved project.
