| Prime contractor: BAE Systems Australia Defence Pty Ltd (formally Tenix Defence)
The project is upgrading 350 of the Army’s M-113A1 vehicles to improve protection, lethality, mobility and habitability. The upgrade replaces most of the vehicle, retaining only the hull, hatches, and rear door and communications systems.
The contractor has commenced production. The introduction of the initial capability of 16 vehicles from three of the vehicle variants commenced in November 2007 and was completed in December 2007. Crew and maintenance training is continuing. Procurement of spares, special tools and test equipment to support the vehicles is continuing in parallel with vehicle production. Design development of the remaining four vehicle variants will continue through to the end of 2009.
