M1A1 AIM Abrams

Australia has selected the M1A1 Abrams Integrated Management (AIM) tank, commonly referred to as the Abrams to be its new main battle tank. 59 Abrams are to be procured by Australia through the United States Government Foreign Military Sales Program. This version of the battle proven M1A1 is a total, as-new rebuild and upgrade. The Australian tanks will have high levels of protection, mobility, improved fire control system components and excellent interoperability in the network centric battlefield.

M88A2 HERCULES

To support the Abrams, Australia will procure seven M88A2 Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift and Evacuation System (HERCULES) armoured recovery vehicles. The HERCULES is a fully tracked heavy armoured vehicle, which performs hoisting, winching and towing as part of recovery operations and evacuation of heavy tanks and other combat vehicles.
