Project Overview
This project has acquired a modular, open-architecture, transportable Combat Training Centre – Live Simulation, Range Instrumentation and Information System (CTC-LIS) supported by a commercial turnkey arrangement.
The CTC-LIS is used to train and evaluate combat team leaders and their combined arms teams in a realistic battlefield environment. CTC-LIS also replicates (as accurately as possible in the live environment) force-on-force engagements, battlefield stress and other battlefield effects.
The CTC-LIS involves the use of appliqué laser and radio frequency based systems that simulate direct and indirect fire weapon effects and other area effects, in the live domain. It provides range instrumentation, position-location and communication networks needed for the Combat Training Centre (CTC) to collect and analyse real-time situation and event data from all exercise participants and vehicles. It also provides the multimedia tools for CTC staff to provide objective feedback to exercise participants on their training performance.

A contract was signed with Cubic Defence New Zealand (CDNZ), formerly OSCMAR International Ltd in January 2003. CDNZ is based in Auckland, New Zealand and is part of the Cubic family of companies. For the LAND 134 program, CDNZ’s partners are Cubic Defense Applications Inc (San Diego, USA) and BAE Systems Australia.
The CTC-LIS was delivered to Army's CTC located in Townsville in February 2006, with System Acceptance completed on 29 November 2006. Capability Acceptance for a majority of the system was achieved on 29 November 2007. The Land 134 Project is currently delivering the remaining components of CTC-LIS.
