The SADI program commenced in 2005 with three main aims:

  • to improve the quality and quantity of skills training in thedefence industry; and
  • to generate additional skilled positions.

Since its inception, around 150 defence companies and organisations have been provided with funding support for training and/or skilling activities in professional, technical and trade skill areas.

What’s New and What’s Different About 2012-2013 SADI Funding?

A number of changes to the SADI program will be implemented in the 2012-13 funding round.  These changes will ensure the program continues to deliver support for training activities in areas which are experiencing critical skills shortages including engineering, logistics, project management, scheduling and trade skills:

    1. SADI funding will be offered through two funding rounds per year.
    2. Six monthly Funding Agreements will be managed on a quarterly basis.
    3. Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief quarterly report on the progress of their supported training activities.
    4. On the Job Technical (OJT) training supervision is an eligible activity in the 2012-13 financial year.

Internal course development is no longer eligible for SADI funding.
