Leaders in DMO
Dr Stephen Gumley, the Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), has built a strong leadership team who are driving change. The DMO is forward-looking and committed to achieving world’s best practice benchmarks in equipping and sustaining one of the most respected military forces in the world - the Australian Defence Force.
DMO’s leadership team has a good balance of private and public sector experience, as well as extensive military domain knowledge. It is a strong and successful team who have outstanding qualifications and ample expertise to lead the DMO now and into the future. For example:
- three of the Executive are in the list of the Top 100 Most Influential Engineers in Australia and one is the most senior civilian engineer to have worked in the Royal Australian Navy;
- six of our Executive hold high Australian honours, and one is a Rhodes Scholar;
- six of the Executive have reached two-star rank in the ADF; and
- together, the Executive are managing the replacement or upgrade of more than 80 per cent of the ADF’s warfighting assets. This is a modernisation program involving logistics and procurement management that is arguably unequalled in our country's history.
