Role
David is currently an engineering graduate on his final rotation of the MGS working for AIR7000, the Maritime Patrol Aircraft Replacement project. He is a member of the engineering team responsible for determining the requirements for the next generation aircraft (both manned and unmanned) which will replace the P‑3C, gaining exposure to project management and systems engineering processes. This involves analysing end-user needs and translating them into functional specifications.
Career profile
David started the MGS with the 2007 intake. His first placement was in the Electronic Systems Division, working on the Over the Horizon Radar in Adelaide. His tasks involved analysing various spectrum usage regulations such as barred frequencies and spectral envelopes related to the operation of a high powered radar system.
David’s second rotation was with the Submarine Combat Project Office working on the acquisition of the Mk48 Heavyweight Torpedo. Here David was involved with the production of design reports providing engineering assessments on the suitability of various items of support and test equipment, software and publication changes.
Qualifications
David has a double degree, a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronic Systems) / Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the Australian National University in Canberra.
