COMPETITIVE SALARY
When you join the MGS your annual salary will be $53,622 (as at January 2009) plus an additional (15.4%) employer contribution to superannuation.

After you have completed 12 months on the program and subject to satisfactory probation reports, your annual salary will increase to over $59,807.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CERTIFICATION
During and after the Materiel Graduate Scheme (MGS) you can take advantage of professional and personal development opportunities available through the DMO Professionalisation Agenda. The Professionalisation Agenda aims to develop workforce capability, meeting both current and emerging skill sets required by the organisation.

DMO will also support you to acquire industry-based professional recognition in the form of certification. Appropriate certification to the role of your job includes, but is not limited to:

  • Project Management certification through the Australian Institute of Project Management
  • Certified Practising Accountant or Chartered Accountant status for accounting graduates
  • Chartered Engineer status through Engineers Australia for engineering graduates

EXCELLENT EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Our excellent employment conditions include:

  • 4 weeks annual leave
  • minimum of three weeks personal leave each year for illness and caring purposes
  • access to up to 52 weeks maternity leave, including up to 12 weeks paid leave
  • flextime and access to other flexible working arrangements, like working from home, after you have completed the MGS
  • payment for membership of and certification by an accredited professional association related to your job role
  • assistance for further formal study
  • Christmas stand down
  • paid long service leave.

Employment conditions for DMO employees are contained in the Defence Collective Agreement (DeCA). The current DeCA expires 30 June 2009.

GUARANTEED PERMANENT POSITION
All graduates who successfully complete the MGS will be appointed to a permanent position in the Australian Public Service within DMO.
