The Australian Defence Force (ADF) relies on DMO to provide its equipment on time, on budget and to the required levels of quality and safety – the ADF’s operational success depends on us. DMO is looking for cadets who are up for this challenge.

obtain a RESTRICTED security clearance?
undergo a medical clearance?
start your first work experience in early January 2011?
if necessary, travel to participate in the work experience sessions?

Then the Materiel Undergraduate Scheme might be for you.

You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to commence the Materiel Undergraduate Scheme. If you are not an Australian citizen at the time of applying, you will need to provide evidence that you will become an Australian citizen by December 2010.

Selection Summary

Our recruitment process is a three stage process

1. Application – Applications are online. You will need to answer a few questions about your experience, submit a resume, your academic results and two current referees. Applications open on 1 March 2010.

2. Assessment Centre – If you are considered suitable based on your application, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre. It may include a group exercise, aptitude tests, a written exercise and an interview. Assessment Centres are held during July in most capital cities (we support you to get there if you live outside these locations.

3. Final Selection – If you are successful you will be offered a position on the 2011 Materiel Undergraduate Scheme which will commence in January 2011. A security assessment and a simple medical are undertaken prior to finalising your recruitment in the DMO.

Selection Process

The eight stage selection process for the 2011 MCS is outlined in the following table:

Stage	Description	When
1	Applications open.	1 March 2010
2	Applications close.	18 April 2010
3	Applications are assessed by the recruitment team to shortlist candidates for Stage 3.	May 2010
4	Applicants shortlisted at Stage 2, are invited to attend an Assessment Centre.	During June-July 2010
5	Offers are made to candidates after successfully completing the assessment activities. Note: The number of offers for the 2010 MUS is limited by the number of graduate vacancies in DMO.	Aug 2010
6	Candidates accept or decline offers.	Within 3 – 4 weeks of receiving an offer.
7	Security and medical clearances are undertaken for those candidates who accept an offer.	Sept-Dec 2010
8	Candidates who obtain security and medical clearances will be invited to commence the MUS in January 2011.	Nov/Dec 2010
