Ground Support Systems
Supporting the Hornet modification program is a series of upgrade projects for the various Ground Systems that support and enhance the Hornet capability. The procurement and delivery of Hornet Ground Support Systems has been under way since the beginning of the initial Hornet acquisition project. These projects play a significant part in supporting the Hornet capability, often facilitated through the importation and establishment of new technologies as a result of Australian Industry Capability.
Since the beginning of the Hornet Upgrade program the Tactical Fighter Project Management Unit has undertaken a range of projects to either upgrade or replace Ground Systems. All of these activities must occur concurrently to ensure that the ground support environment can sustain the enhanced capability being fitted to Australia's frontline fighter fleet.
Current Ground Systems projects include:
- IASSF - Integrated Avionics Software Support Facility
- MPS - Mission Planning System
- HACTS - Hornet Aircrew Training System
