SELECTION SUMMARY

Our recruitment process is a three stage process

1. Application – Applications are online. You will need to answer a few questions about your experience, submit a resume, your academic results and two current referees. Applications open on 27 February 2012.

Close: April 15th

2. Assessment Centre – If you are considered suitable based on your application, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre. It may include a group exercise, aptitude tests, a written exercise and an interview. Assessment Centres are held during July in most capital cities (we support you to get there if you live outside these locations.

During May - June 2012

3. Final Selection – If you are successful you will be offered a position on the 2012/2013 Materiel Graduate Scheme which will commence in August 2012/February 2013. A security assessment and a simple medical are undertaken prior to finalising your recruitment in the DMO.

SELECTION PROCESS

The eight stage selection process for the 2012 MGS is outlined in the following table:

Applications are assessed by the recruitment team to shortlist candidates.

April - May 2012

Applicants shortlisted are invited to attend an Assessment Centre.

During May-July 2012

Offers are made to candidates after successfully completing the assessment activities.
Note: The number of offers for the 2012/2013 MGS is limited by the number of graduate vacancies in DMO.

June - Oct 2012

Candidates accept or decline offers.

Within 3 – 4 weeks of receiving an offer.

Security and medical clearances are undertaken for those candidates who accept an offer.

June - Dec 2012

Candidates who obtain security and medical clearances will be invited to commence the MGS in August 2012 or February 2013.

July/December 2012

SELECTION CRITERIA

The following table describes the selection criteria against which graduates will be evaluated.

HINTS ON HOW TO PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION

Before applying for the MGS, you should:
  • review and understand the selection criteria
  • find out as much as you can about DMO and its current projects
  • gain an understanding of strategic Defence issues
  • consider your preparedness to go through the security clearance process
  • consider your willingness and ability to relocate if successful
  • be able to commence on the Scheme in August 2012 or January 2013.
