Quality Management
Quality Management
The Geospatial Analysis Centre (GAC) has a Quality Cell which has been delegated with the following charter:
To develop, implement and maintain a quality system which will satisfy the requirements of the International and Australian Standard - ISO / AS 9002:1994.
There are many benefits for an organisation to implement a quality system. The role of the Quality Cell is to manage and control all aspects of the above charter.
The theory of QA is to introduce a systematic
approach to all relevant activities,
thereby increasing consistency and reducing
the variation, in those activities to
produce a better product. This is achievable
by documenting all standard procedures
and ensuring that the relevant procedures
are followed by all personnel.
The Geospatial Analysis Centre has a
quality system documentation based on
the following hierarchy:
- GAC Quality Manual. Broad policy type document.
- Quality System Procedures (QSP) - Broad process description.
- Work Instructions (WI) - Detailed process descriptions.
- Other supporting documents Specifications, Forms, etc.
In managing and controlling the development, implementation and maintenance of the GAC Quality System, the Quality Cell has taken specific responsibility in the following areas:
- controlling all documentation used by GAC
- performing and organising quality audits on the system
- directly assisting in the production of all documentation (QSP, WI and Forms)
- providing information on the requirements of the ISO /AS 9002 standard that need to be satisfied
- assisting in the introduction of any procedures that are not currently performed but are required to meet the standard
- ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are taken when some aspect of the system is found to be nonconforming
- addressing any other issues that may arise which relate to matters which may effect the GAC Quality System (or parts thereof)
