SCI1 courses: (Top of page)

Content
The workshop is aimed at engineers having to introduce and certify new and modified avionics in ADF aircraft. The focus of the workshops is to describe the rationale driving the FAA requirements associated with integrated avionics systems and provide interpretation of those requirements. The course will be delivered by Mr Mike DeWalt of Certification Services Inc. CSI has developed the workshop using the considerable expertise of former FAA specialists and chief engineers from The Boeing Company. The FAA system is the basis of DGTA's system and ADF specific concepts will also be discussed throughout the course. This training has been organised by SCI1 on a number of previous occasions and was well received by ADO and industry participants.
Format
Course delivered over 3 days, traditionally at 2 locations, up to 25 participants per session.
Timeframe
Sep 2010 - RAAF Williams - Laverton
Participation Cost
There is no cost involved for uniformed and APS personnel. Industry participants are asked to pay a pro-rata fee (in the past approx $1250.00 per person).
Other Cost
Individual participants are responsible for organising and funding their travel, meals and accommodation.

Content
Developed and delivered by Mike DeWalt, a senior scientist of Certification Services inc, one of the key architects of DO-178B and a former FAA National Resource Specialist for software policy with many years of industry experience. DO-178B is an international standard accepted by numerous international airworthiness authorities and the ADF preferred software assurance standard. The course is aimed at software practitioners directly involved in airborne software engineering, software assurance and design acceptance. This training has been organised by SCI1 on number of previous occasions and was well received by ADO and industry participants. DGTA specific requirements will also be discussed throughout the course.

Notes

Content
Jointly developed by Certification Services Inc and SCI-DGTA staff, the course is delivered by members of SCI1. This course is a simplified version of the Aviation Software Design Assurance under DO-178B (3 day) course with some DGTA specific information. The 1-day Aviation Software Design Assurance course is aimed at managers of software programs and those requiring insight into software assurance as opposed to practitioners.

Notes

Content
The course combines theory and practical sessions. The course is suitable for anyone involved in creating or using any technical software document: contracts, software requirements specifications, designs, program code; test plans, designs, procedures, data, user and support manuals. Software managers, analysts, programmers, testers and documentation specialists are likely to find inspection and review techniques of use as they are one of the most cost effective methods to reduce defect densities; far more effective than testing.
Format
Course delivered over 1 day at various locations depending on need.
Timeframe
No set schedule as yet. Lectures to be delivered when requested and/or scheduled with the host unit. More sessions are expected 1st Quarter 2007.
Participation Cost
