9 June - Employment information session
DCO South Australia are hosting an information session and morning tea for all interested Defence partners at Hands On SA.
Hands On SA is a not for profit community organisation aimed at supporting those with a disability or mental health difficulties engage in employment and learn new skills to support them to enter the workforce or regain employment.
Hands On SA also work within schools to support young people who may have a disability or mental health issue to transition from the school environment into the workforce.
Hands On SA also provides opportunity for people who may not be living with a disability to develop experience in varying roles (such as administration), to provide them with opportunity gain meaningful employment or work experience.
The information session will involve a tour of the premises and work site and also a short presentation by staff at Hands On SA.

Australian Military Wives Choir
The Australian Military Wives Choir is looking for women in the Defence community to lead a group of women's voices. The AMWC has enjoyed rapid growth and significant community support since it began in 2012 and is eager to expand throughout Australia. The Choir recently received funding from DCO, and a significant proportion of the grant was to aid in setting up new groups in regions across the country, including Adelaide.

North East Defence Community Inc. (NEDC)
The North East Defence Community Inc. (NEDC) is a tri-service group based at RAAF Base Edinburgh – we organise events and activities to help Defence families & couples develop a support network. It’s all about making new friends and enjoying Defence life in Adelaide.

Our regular sessions include:
For ages 0-5. There are plenty of toys, role play equipment, educational activities, playpen area, nursery items and a great outdoor play area with playground & sand pit.
When: Wednesday and Friday, 9.30 am–12 noon during school term
Held every two months on Saturday or Sunday. Involves a BBQ at the Community Centre or a day trip somewhere fun in Adelaide.
Movies and dinner, happy hour drinks, theatre evenings, cooking classes, etc.
When: One Friday evening every two months.
SPOUSE SUPPORT SESSIONS
Presentation on topics relating to Defence family life such as coping with deployments, parenting and first aid training.
When: Every fourth Thursday of the month, alternating between daytime and evening.
C3 GROUP – CRAFT, COFFEE AND CHAT
No crafting experience necessary – learn something fun or a new skill, or just have a good natter.
When: Every third Thursday of the month
Visiting different play-cafés around Adelaide.
When: Every second Thursday of the month, 10 am–1 pm
In addition, the centre offers various school holiday activities, family camping weekends, crèche days, a library and equipment for hire.

Woodside Defence Families Association (WDFA)
The Woodside Defence Families Association provides support to Defence families in many ways, offering a variety of activities, events, information and support. Our association welcomes new and current unit members and their families to the Adelaide Hills area.
We work closely with the Unit, RHQ and the Padre to provide information and support for everyone. We encourage partners and families to be part of the association by visiting our Playgroup and Community Centre buildings or following us on Facebook.
Activities and events include:
Morning Tea and Playgroup
Each Monday and Wednesday [except public holidays or Christmas time] from 9.30 onwards, usually concluding at lunchtime. Opportunity to socialise with members and for children to participate in craft and play activities. There are loads of toys, books, play equipment and puzzles.
We have a different craft activity for the children each week. We have a wonderful undercover playground area and a range of outdoor toys. There is a cubby house and sports equipment as well. There is a verandah with comfortable furniture and BBQ facilities. Children of all ages are welcome and we have facilities for even the little ones, including high chairs, bouncers and a cosy baby space.
Monthly Social Events
We organise a range a range of events to suit everyone. See our Facebook page for what is coming up. These include family BBQs, lunches at local places of interest, movie nights, excursions to children friendly venues, sporting and fitness activities, local community volunteer work, craft group, book club, information sessions.
Special Occasion Events
Easter, Anzac Day and Christmas are celebrated with special events by the WDFA.
