Finance in Defence

Defence is a large, dispersed and complex business that manages billions of dollars worth of assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses each year.

Defence’s finances are managed by a network of 230 people in the Chief Finance Officer Group and hundreds of other officers in eight Groups and three Services in 350 locations throughout Australia.

For 2007-08, Defence’s finance network will manage a budget of $24.8 billion – $21.9 billion for departmental funding and $2.8 billion for administered funds.
