Our structure

The Deputy Secretary Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) , Mr Kim Gillis, is supported by the Group Business Manager and is responsible for CASG’s portfolio of acquisition projects and sustainment products that procure and sustain materiel capability for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

  • The CASG leadership team has a good balance of private and public sector experience, as well as extensive military domain knowledge. It is a strong and successful team with outstanding qualifications and ample expertise to lead CASG now and into the future.

CASG domains

  • Air

    The air divisions are responsible for all acquisition and sustainment business conducted through CASG's Aerospace; Helicopters, Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems and Guided Weapons; and Joint Strike Fighter Divisions.

  • Business Management

    The Business Management Group monitors Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group's (CASG) internal benchmarks, facilitating disposals and export-related activities, including government-to-government sales, in support of the Australian defence industry. It includes group governance, business risk management, finance, work health and safety, security, workforce planning and the provision of high quality business services to the broader group.

  • Joint Systems

    Joint Systems Division (JSD) is responsible for acquiring, in many cases integrating and then supporting communications systems, command and control systems, deployable network systems, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare systems, satellites and wide area surveillance systems and guided weapons and munitions.

  • Land

    Land Systems Division (LSD) is responsible for acquiring and supporting designated land systems for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) including development, acquisition, fleet management and through-life support of allocated land systems.

  • Maritime

    The maritime divisions are responsible for all acquisition and sustainment business conducted through CASG's Maritime Systems, Submarines and Naval Surface Warships, including the Air Warfare Destroyer program.
