Defence Annual Report 1999-2000

The internet version of the annual report is divided into five sections:
- Section 1 contains a review of the year by the Secretary to the Department of Defence and the Chief of the Defence Force, a departmental overview of performance for 1999-2000 as well as accountability arrangements. It also includes organisational charts that show the formal structure of the Defence organisation as at 30 June and 1 July 2000. (769 KB)
- Section 2 contains a summary of the 1999-2000 financial statements, including a comparison with the 1998-1999 statements, and the financial statements themselves, required under Section 49 of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997, which were independently audited by the Australian National Audit Office. - Section 3 contains information on output prices, including explanations for significant variations from budget estimates, and output performance. Three appendices are included in this section covering Australian Defence Force operations, exercises and Defence Cooperation activities respectively. (749 KB)
- Section 4 contains supplementary statistical information of interest to readers, as well as information required under specific statutory provisions relating to the annual reports of all Commonwealth departments. (278 KB)
- Section 5 contains a compliance index which identifies where those matters required by the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit to be included in annual reports are located; a glossary; a list of acronyms; and an alphabetical index. (212 KB)
