| The Commonwealth has an agreement with the University of New South Wales
to provide military education and training services at the Australian
Defence Force Academy. The University has employees, or former employees,
of the Australian Defence Force Academy who are members of the State superannuation
schemes which are unfunded or partly funded. This gives rise to an unfunded
superannuation contingent liability by the Commonwealth, in respect of
the scheme for accrued benefit entitlements. The amount and timing of
payments are dependent on a number of factors, which remain uncertain
at this time. It is anticipated that a whole of government review will
be undertaken during 2003-04 with the intention of quantifying this contingent
liability. |
