OUTPUT SIX: INTELLIGENCE
Defence provides intelligence collection, analysis, holistic assessments, formal briefings and military threat assessments for the planning and conduct of military operations, for Defence policy making and planning, for capability development, and for support of wider government decision making. Defence produces current intelligence reports, signals analysis, communications and information security, and imagery and geospatial data.
PERFORMANCE SUMMARY
Overview
- an intelligence capability able to be activated in times of crisis or conflict, including trained and experienced personnel, databases, and collection, production and dissemination systems;
- diverse products including signals intelligence reports and electronic warfare databases, all-source intelligence assessments and reports and databases, and imagery and geospatial products and databases;
- national communications and information security capability and services; and
- a tangible and continuous contribution to the United States alliance and to important Defence relationships in our region.
- the Defence Intelligence Organisation;
- the Defence Signals Directorate; and
- the Defence Imagery and Geospatial Organisation.
Key Risks and Planned Mitigation
- a strong emphasis on graduate and other forms of recruitment;

The variation of 9.1 per cent relates to enhancement of intelligence capabilities and activities, including security, staff development and recruitment.
