Award Winners at RMC Duntroon Dec 07
CAPT PETER MCCARTHY AWARD
On 12 Jan 1988, Captain Peter 'Bags' McCarthy RACT was killed whilst on service with UNTSO when his jeep was blown up by a landmine during a patrol in southern Lebanon. To mark the 20th anniversary of his passing and to recognise Peter's service and ultimate sacrifice, Mrs Sue McCarthy agreed to the proposal to name the Perpetual RACT prize at RMC Duntroon in his honour. The HOC extended an invitation to Mrs Sue McCarthy to present the award for the first time at the RACT Lanyard Ceremony on 10 Dec 07.
The 2007 Captain Peter McCarthy Award was presented to SCDT Jeremy Mar Fan who is posted to 10 FSB. Many congratulations.

Birth of the RACT
RACT Inauguration Parade - 3 June 1973
Although the RACT was formed on 1 June 1973, the Inauguration Parade was held on 3 June 1973. The main activity was conducted at Tobruk Barracks, Puckapunyal. The photographs below are sample of those taken by the official photographer, Mikainis Photo Studio of Seymour. Thanks to CAPT Lisa Ride who retrieved these photos from the Army Museum Bandiana archives.

The following photgraphs were supplied by Paul Asbury. Paul served as a 2LT with 85 Tpt Pl in SVN as the 2IC from October 1969 to October 1970. His biography is attached. The photographs were taken in 1970 and provide an insight into some aspects of service life during the conflict.
