Vale COL Bob Mair

It was with deep regret that BRIG Anstey learned of the passing of an icon of the Corps, COL Bob Mair, MBE. COL Mair passed away on 23 Apr 04. A requiem mass was held on 29 Apr 04 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, East Hampton. A Bearer Party was provided by ALTC and the funeral was attended by approximately 90 people including ex- AASC/RAASC/RACT members. Thirty three serving RACT personnel from the following units also attended:

  • ALTC
  • HQ 9 FSB
  • 26 Tpt Sqn
  • 15 Tpt Sqn
  • 4 CSSB
  • JMCO Melbourne
  • HQ JLC
  • DMO
  • SCMA

BRIG Jeff Wilkinson (Retd) delivered a eulogy on behalf of BRIG Anstey. A piper was provided by DFSM who played the Recessional.

COL Mair will be sadly missed. He was an inspiration to all who met him. He maintained an avid interest in the Corps and especially in our newly graduated officers. In all ways and at all times, he lived up to the Corps motto. May he rest in peace.
