REGIMENTAL SIGNALLER

The Job

Along with learning to be an Infantry soldier, you can specialise in the field of communications. As a Regimental Signaller you operate the radios, telephone and computers that provide the vital link in the Infantry command and control system. Without communications the Infantry Battalion is blind.

Whether it’s new instructions from HQ, a special report, or an order to attack, you’ll transmit and receive it all.

You may be located in a vehicle or on foot with the radio on your back. Either way it’s important, exciting and where the action is!.

The Training

After you have completed Common Recruit Training (CRT) at Kapooka, you will be ready to start your Initial Employment Training (or ‘IET’ as we call it). We will teach you everything you need to be a skilled Infantry soldier.

The Infantry course is a 2 week course not including on the job training. After completion of the Infantry course you will be eligible to commence the Basic and Specialist Regimental Signallers Course.

The Course is a 2 weeks in length. The training is conducted either at Puckapunyal in Victoria, or here in the unit. This training will provide you with the skills you need to work as a Regimental Signaller in the unit.

The Skills

As a Regimental Signaller you will be skilled in operating a wide range of the Army’s sophisticated electronic communications equipment. The skills you gain here, in addition to the qualifications you get as an Infantry soldier, will make you a valuable asset within the Army Reserve.

Working as part of a team will help build your confidence, and develop your teamwork skills. As a Regimental Signaller , you know you can get the job done!.
