As
an Intelligence Dutyman (or 'Int Dutyman' as we call it), you
are responsible for the collation and analysis of information
gathered by an Army unit. As an Int Dutyman you will organise
and analyse information, brief and debrief patrols, prepare battle
maps and deliver presentations on the enemy. You may also be required
to deliver briefings to the operations staff on the enemy situation
and the current intelligence estimate.
You will perform these duties as part of a small team, in diverse situations, ranging from the Battalion Headquarters to in the Command Post in the field on operations.
An Int Dutyman also
gets to be involved in all the other activities. You will learn
basic fieldcraft, how to shoot the F88 Austeyr Rifle, and participate
in live firing exercises and adventurous training activities such
as abseiling.
To become an Int
Dutyman, first you must complete Common Recruit Training (CRT)
at
Kapooka and Initial Employment
Training (or IET as we call it). The IET CSE is conducted
over 2 weeks, followed by on the job training. After completion
of your Infantry courses you will be eligible to commence the
Intelligence Dutyman's course.
The Int Dutyman course
is a two-week course. The training is conducted either within
the Brigade or at the School of Military Intelligence in Queensland.
This training teaches you all about being an Int Dutyman. You
will be taught all about the enemy's forces, how the analyse information
and to prepare and update battle maps as well as how to deliver
briefings. All your travel, accommodation and meals are free.
Plus you get TAX FREE pay while you are gaining your new skills.
As
an Int Dutyman youll gain and develop a wide range of personal
skills and experience that will be invaluable in any career you
choose. You will learn skills in personnel management communications
and leadership. You will enhance your personal organisation and
learn the ability to problem solve.
Working as part of the Int Cell will also help to build your confidence, and develop your teamwork skills. As an Int Dutyman you know you can get the job done!
