The
JobAs a member of the Assault Pioneer Platoon you will undertake a variety of minor engineering tasks to assist the Battalion to fight, by maintaining mobility, whilst at the same time restricting the enemy's mobility.
These tasks will be performed as part of a highly qualified, close knit team in both training and on operations. As an Assault Pioneer you are an integral part of the Battalion.
After
you have completed Common Recruit Training (CRT) at Kapooka in
New South Wales, you will be ready to start your Initial Employment
training (IET). The infantry IET course is conducted over three
2-week periods, followed by on the job training. After completion
of this course you will be eligible to commence the Basic Assault
Pioneer Course.
The Basic Assault
Pioneer Course is a 4-week course conducted in two 2-week modules.
Most Infantry Brigades conduct the basic course each year. All
your travel, accommodation and meals are free. Plus you get TAX
FREE pay while you are gaining your new skills.

As an Assault Pioneer you will specialise in:
- Field Engineering
- Demolitions
- Watermanship
- Minewarfare and Booby Trap Clearance
Whilst learning these
skills you will also gain experience in personnel management,
communications, and leadership. You will enhance your personal
organisation and learn the ability to problem solve.
