SPECIAL EVENTS
GECKOS RELAUNCH
When: 20 July from 1400 - 1600hrs at GECKOS
Who: All Defence personnel and their families
What: Four signfiicant events rolled into one!
1. Recognition to those who have served in Iraq
2. Recognition to those who have supported GECKOS both financially and 'in kind'
3. Active demonstrations and displays of Defence resources
4. Relaunch of GECKOS (after our singificant renovations earlier in 2008)
All this AND prizes too!!
There is to be a NQ Holidays 'lucky door prize'. Entry at registrationon the day.
Tickets for the GECKOS raffle - Honda Shadow 750cc motor cycle from Rising Sun Honda.
Tickets into the children's raffle that will be drawn on the day -
"You and Me" baby doll with beautifuly hand knitted wardrobe of clothes donated by the Townsville RSL Women's Auxilery.
Come along for this great afternoon.

Camkids Playgroup
Costs: $1 per family per session - PLUS $28 per year per family membership for Playgroups QLD
Who: Open to all Defence Families with children aged up to 5 years.
CamKids Playgroup operates year round.
Geckos is not a child care facility and all children are the responsibility of their parent/ guardian at all times.

Stitchin' Hens Craft
Who: Everyone interested in either starting or finishing off a craft project who wants the friendship of craft in group.
Does not operate during school holidays.
Craft lessons
Costs: Dependent upon the craft and materials
Who: Everyone
What: Each month learn a new craft under the guidance of experienced practitioners.

Justice of the Peace
Who: Why stand in a shopping mall where there is no privacy to have your personal documents witnessed or legal papers processed when there is an alternative. You can discretely and comfortably come to GEKCOS any Monday from 1200 to 1300hrs to see a JP (Qualified).
This services is for all who have base access.
Wakeup Walk
Who: Small group walk in the mornings at the foot of Mt Stuart.
Pram friendly walks available. You will need walking shoes - not thongs or sandals, and a hat. Water is recommended althoughthe walks are no more than one hour duration. Different levels of fitness easily accommodated.

Water Worx
Where: Lavarack Bks Area Pool
Who A water exercise program based on water aerobics.
All levels of fitness catered for. Operates from October to March each year when the pool is at its most comfortable temperatures.

Morning Tea Programs
Who: Open to all Defence families.
Morning tea occurs every Tuesday from 1000hrs. Sometimes there are special guests and other times it is a low key chat and biscuit time. Come along and make new friends.

Weekly cleanup & afternoon tea
When: Any afternoon at any time.
What: Whenever you are free to come in and help us with the houskeeping tasks that have to be done to keep GECKOS looking fresh and being a safe place for everyone who comes here.
Who: Whoever can give an hour here or there as a volunteer helper at GECKOS
