1st Brigade

The 1st Brigade is the Australian Army's light armoured brigade consisting of more than 3400 civilian and military personnel.

Based at Robertson Barracks, Palmerston, 20kms south of Darwin in the Northern Territory, 1st Brigade soldiers and families are at the forefront of the Australia's operational commitments around the world.

Currently operational commitments include Iraq, Afghanistan and Timor Leste, most notably are the Brigade commitments to the Overwatch Battle Group (West) and the Force Level Logistics Asset.

The Brigade is also extremely well equipped having recieved the new M1A1 Abrams Tank that arrived in March last year, and the upgraded M113 Armoured Fighting Vehicle in November 2007.

Brigadier Michael Krause is the Commander of 1st Brigade.
