ROCKY the Bull meets his Boss
"CPL Rocky", 31st/42nd Battalion mascot met his Battalion commander LT COL Peter Power and RSM WO1 Brian Moore earlier this year when they visited Beef 2009 in Rockhampton. "CPL Rocky" is a Belmont Red stud bull, and is owned by Swin and Kathy Hudson from Tremere Stud, Moura, in Central Queensland. The Belmont Red breed was developed in Central Queensland is renowned for its hardy and tenacious nature. According to his owners, Rocky enjoys his Army Reserve career, and is particurlarly fond of a good scratch on the forehead. Photo by SGT Helene Macdonald.

Unit Awards/Promotions
Congratulations CAPT Darren Carter
31/42RQR's WO2 Darren Carter has received his commission to Captain. Darren was successful in his application for commissioning under the ASWOC scheme and will assume the role of acting OC of Bravo Company, 31/42RQR. Darren is ex Regular Army, and has served predominantly in 6 RAR, RMC and 2 RAR. He has deployed to Iraq and the Sinai and is currently employed by BAE Systems at Lavarack Barracks. The Royal Queensland Regiment Cup
The RQR Cup is again almost upon us, CPL King (B Company, Mackay) is currently the Section Commander of the champion section and intends to keep the trophy at Bravo Company. There will will be ferocious competition from the other companies in particular Alpha Company who intends to take the trophy north. At this stage there will be a chance for the sections to compete further in the year and also a chance for the most skillfull soldier to be bestowed the title of Champion Soldier.
