Do I always have do physical training?
- To ensure an operational capability, Defence requires its personnel to maintain a high level of physical fitness. Defence achieves this by encouraging sporting activities, generally, conducted during working hours.
How old do you have to be to join up, or what is the maximum age?
- The age limits for entry varies from 17 - 55 years. Specific age requirements are available on each job information page. click here. As evidence of proof of age, all persons wishing to join must present an original or cerfified copy of their full birth certificate to their recruiting officer.

How do I stand if I have committed an offence years ago?
- Defence does take into consideration the criminal history of an applicant when assessing his/her suitability; this is done on a case-by-case basis. Some offences fall under the "spent conviction legislation" with which the ADF must comply.
How long do I have to sign up for in the Reserves?
- There is no fixed period of service in the Reserves.
How much will I be paid in the Reserves?
Pay rates vary from trade to trade and depending on rank and avenue of entry. Pay rates also change from time to time due to pay increases click here

Is it true that part time soldier's pay is tax free?
- Yes part time member's pay is not subject to tax.
How do I Join?
To join 11 Brigade you need to meet the following criteria:
- Be between 17(with parental consent) and 55 years of age.
- Be an Australian citizen (0r meet the Army's national requirements). This means that you must have permanent residency status or have applied for citizenship. You will need to produce proof of citizenship application if you are not an Australian citizen.
- You will need to have passed Year 9 Maths and English for General Entry positions (with certain exceptions). Officer entry requires higher level education
- Finally you will need to contact 11 Brigade Recruiting Cell (11BRC) on 1300 132 624 or ring Defence Force Recruiting on 131901.

Officer Entry
Officer entry generally requires year 12 education. Training is conducted by the Queensland University Regiment (QUR) which is located at St Lucia Brisbane as well as a detachment in Townsville.
