Exercise CATA 2008
June saw the entire Battery deploy to High Range Training Area to participate in Exercise CATA, the 3rd Brigade's major exercise commitment for 2008 that involved the majority of 3rd Brigade units. 'A' Field Battery members combined with both 107th and 108th Field Batteries to conduct the first truly Regimental-level exercise for three years. During the exercise the Regiment worked closely with Infantry and Armour elements and conducted the full gamut of missions and fireplans. The gunline worked particularly hard during the exercise due to the sheer volume of ammunition that was available.

'A' Field Battery took to Puckapunyal Range in early September for it's last Battery exercise of the year and it's second-last live fire of the year. 'A' Field Battery was rounded out by members from the Towsville-based 108th Field Battery. The exercise involved the firing of several ammunition natures as well as a small arms shoot, and culminated with a day of almost non-stop firing and a foot move out of the exercise area.
