Operator Administrative (OP ADMIN)

The OP ADMIN is a solider who is responsible for the provision of first line personnel management support and resource management to units and members of the Australia Defence Organisation. The OP ADMIN has the skill sets to fill the role of Resource Manager or Career Manager and may also be employed within the training environment as an Instructor, Assessor, Trade Manager or Training Developer.


As an OP ADMIN progresses through the trade and ranks, they gain a great deal of useful administrative skills including personnel management, public administration, financial management and concepts of government procedures. The skills gained as an OP ADMIN are easily transferred to the public sector and civil industry.


Key Features


This trade provides for the quickest means of achieving full trade of all Army trades.
The trade has better than average promotion prospects as this trade, has a minimum period of time in rank of only three years and no backlog of personnel awaiting promotion compared to other trades with more than a four year period and significant promotion backlogs.
OP ADMINs are deployed on most overseas operations due to the ongoing requirement for administrative support to missions.


Duties

  • Interpret policy, legislation and regulations to provide clerical and administrative advice.
  • Use in-service office technology and communication equipment.
  • Maintain records, files and register incoming/outgoing correspondence.
  • Prepare administrative documents for signature and release.
  • Maintain maps, logbooks, messages and information in an operational environment.
  • Manages units resources and finance.
  • Operates personnel management information systems.
  • Operate Resource Management Systems.

Education Requirements

Completion of Australian Year nine education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.


Employment Training

IET Operator Administrative Basic Course: 35 days conducted at ALTC, Bandiana, Victoria. Reserve soldiers have the option to complete either the Basic or Modular courses.

The OP ADMIN is employed in a variety of ARA, ARes and integrated units throughout Army and the ADF.

  • OP ADMIN Grade One ECN 074-2 PTE-LCPL Pay Group 2
  • OP ADMIN ADV ECN 074-3 CPL Pay Group 3
  • OP ADMIN SPVR ECN 074-4 CPL-SGT Pay Group 4
  • OP ADMIN MNGR ECN 074-5 WO2 Pay Group 4
  • OP ADMIN TECH MNGR ECN 074-6 WO1 Grade 2
