An Operator Ground Based Air Defence (Artillery) soldier belongs to the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery (RAA) whose mission is to provide firepower on the battlefield. 16 Air Defence Regiment is responsible for providing low level air defence within the National Air Defence Structure and elements can be deployed with the RAAF and Navy, as well as the Army. The Regiment uses the portable RBS 70 missile system. A Operator Ground Based Air Defence is a soldier who detects, identifies, acquires and engages hostile aircraft, with the intention of destroying or neutralising such aircraft, using a surface to air missile. Duties
Employment Training Missile Number Course: 31 days at the School of Artillery, Puckapunyal, Victoria. Employment Location The Air Defence Regiment is located at Woodside, approximately 30 minutes from Adelaide, SA. Elements of 16 Air Defence Regiment often exercise and work with the Air Defence assets of other nations such as USA, UK, NZ, Malaysia and Singapore. Pay This particular job is classified as a Pay Group 2 occupation, with progression to Pay Group 3 after completing 6 months on the job experience (OJE). |
