Certificates of Service / Wills Cell

Separations is responsible for:

  • issuing Certificates of Service to soldiers on discharge;
  • any administrative action arising from a FATALCAS, in accordance with the relevant guidelines and policies.

Certificates of Service

Once SCMA receives the Discharge or Transfer Certificate (PE71) from the local area Australian Defence Force Transition Cell (ADFTC) a Certificate of Service will be issued. It is important that the soldier indicates on the PE71 the correct address to enable SCMA to forward their Certificate of Service.

The information contained in a Certificate of Service is obtained from the soldier's PMKeyS record. However, if a soldier believes that the information contained in the Certificate is not accurate, a request can be sent to SCMA with the relevant documentary evidence to have their certificate amended.

Wills

In accordance with DI(G) PERS 20-7 it is recommended all soldiers raise a Will and lodge it for safe keeping with either DCO or a private solicitor. Soldiers should speak with their unit Legal Officer with regard to making a valid Will. If a soldier has a Will and it is held elsewhere then the soldier should complete annex C to the DI(G) for their unit to lodge with DCO in order that PMKeys can be updated.

All Army wills are now held by HQ DCO. The General Enquiry number for wills is (02) 6127 2321. The postal address is below:
