Publications

The Land Warfare Studies Centre produces six different series of publications. These publications series supplement the Australian Army Journal by offering a venue for ideas first raised in the Army's professional discourse to be further developed and debated among defence personnel. Authors interested in submitting work for consideration by the LWSC are asked to read the publication guidelines (PDF) first.

Australian Army Journal

The Australian Army Journal provides the primary forum for Army's professional discourse. The Journal, in addition to facilitating debate within the Australian Army, also raises the quality and intellectual rigor of that debate by adhering to a strict and demanding standard of quality. This publication is now well respected internationally, and gives Army's people an opportunity to reach out to their colleagues in the Army, the ADF and military personnel the world over.

Sir Brudenell White Monograph Series

The Brudenell White monograph series is the flagship of the LWSC publications collection. Named after the famed Australian soldier-scholar, General Sir Brudenell White, this series aims to continue the legacy of professionalism and proficiency that was set by 'the most scholarly and technically talented soldier in Australian history'. Works published in this series reflect an exhaustive and thorough research effort on the part of the author, and are selected by the LWSC based upon the relevance of their thesis to the critical issues facing the Army today and into the future.

Study Papers

These papers are vehicles for progressing professional discussion and debate concerning the application of land warfare concepts and capabilities to the security of Australia and its interests. Study Papers are lengthy and, by their nature, are intended to be as comprehensive and definitive as possible.

Senior Officers Professional Digest

Professional reading is a commitment to our Army's future. Vanguard

In order to improve Army's corporate strategic communications, the Chief of Army has authorised the release of this occasional newsletter titled Vanguard. His intent is for Vanguard to provide insights on contemporary issues that are distributed across the Army and broader Defence community.
