Army's Major Jack Thurgar receives Chief of Air Force Commendation.

Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Mark Binskin presented Major Jack Thurgar with a Chief of Air Force Commendation last week. Major Thurgar recognised for his outstanding contribution into the investigation of the disappearance of Canberra aircraft A84-231, which disappeared 3 November 1970. His investigation led to the finding of the aircraft wreckage and the subsequent repatriation of the remains of Flying Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver, who were the last two missing Australians from the Vietnam conflict.

Drug Testing in Army HQ

Army Headquarters conducted drug testing for prohibited substances on its members last week. Some of the members tested included the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie, Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Paul and Head Modernisation and Strategic Planning - Army, Major General John Caligari who were happy to lead by example. "Army is actively and regularly educating its people of the far reaching consequences of the use of drugs," said Lieutenant General Gillespie.
