8th Brigade is a combined-arms brigade consisting of two Infantry Battalions, a Light Armoured Regiment, an Artillery Regiment, a Combat Engineer Regiment, Supply Battalion and a Signals Squadron all under the command of the Brigade's Headquarters which is located at Timor Barracks, Dundas.

The 8th Brigade is a Part-Time Army (Reserve) formation with its headquarters situated at Timor Barracks, Dundas in Sydney. With Armour, Artillery, Infantry, Engineer, Signals and Logistic & Support units located around NSW, the 8th Brigade offers a diverse range of part-time careers for its soldiers.

Develop new skills

With the recent increase in role for the Army Reserve, 8th Brigade units offer an opportunity for you to learn and develop new skills and experiences that you will have the opportunity to apply here or overseas. Apart from the military and leadership skills you'll develop, you will also have the opportunity to take part in supporting ADF operations or undertaking a variety of Adventure Training activities. Members of 8th Brigade have served in Rifle Company Butterworth (Malaysia), Peace Monitoring Teams in Bougainville and operationally as part of Australian Forces in East Timor. Beyond operational deployments the Brigade has undertaken Adventure Training activities over recent years including Canyoning and Abseilling in Bungonia State Forest, treking along the Six Foot Track from Katoomba to the Genolan Caves, and walking the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea.

What does Headquarters 8 Brigade have to offer?

Headquarters 8th Brigade has positions available for people as drivers, clerks, signallers, storepersons and various other specialist trades. After enlisting and completeing your 6 weeks of basic training (called 'Common Recruit Training') at Kapooka, near Wagga, you'll receive specialist training in your selected trade and receive higher pay on completion of your trade and promotion courses. More importantly, you'll have many opportunities to apply these new skills in practice supporting the units within 8 Brigade during their annual exercises, training weekends or adventure training activities.
