Legal Services
HQ 13 Brigade Legal provides legal advice and legal aid to Commanders and members of 13 Brigade and all its units. The office is staffed by an ARA Legal Officer and an APS Paralegal with a full Reserve Panel of Legal Officers to assist as required.
The Reserve Panel parade every Tuesday night from 1900 hrs and appointments can be made for legal assistance through the Paralegal.
The responsibilities of HQ 13 Brigade Legal include the co-ordination and provision of legal advice and legal aid to Commanders and members of the following matters:
1. Operations Law;
2. Disciplinary Law including advice regarding service charges, convictions and punishments;
3. Administrative Law including inquiries, redress of grievances, notices to show cause, termination notices, censures, warnings and disclosure of information;
4. Civilian legal matters. Service Legal Officers cannot represent members in civilian courts, however, initial advice can be given on the matter. This includes family law, criminal law and other general areas of law; and
5. Wills and Powers of Attorney for all members. (See attached links for instructions regarding Wills and Powers of Attorney). Please complete these forms and fax to the Legal Office.
