«BackSub Units
The 31st/42nd Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment, covers the majority of the Queensland coast, with depots located as far north as Cairns and Gladstone to the South. 31/42 RQR is a reserve infantry battalion with three Rifle Companies located throughout the area of operation and a Combat Support Service Troop (CSST) colocated with the Rifle Companies. The Battalion headquarters is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks and is administered by a combination of full time staff and part time staff.

Battalion Headquarters
Located at Lavarack Barracks, Townsville, is the command element for the Battalion and consists of Operations, Administrative and Training staff.

Alpha Company
Located in Cairns and Townsville, Alpha Company consists of a Reserve Rifle Company including supporting staff.

Bravo Company
Bravo Company is located in Longreach, Emerald and Mackay. Elements of Company Support Services Troop are also colocated with Bravo Company. At current Bravo Company has the Champion Section for the Battalion.

Charlie Company
Charlie Company is located at Rockhampton and Gladstone, it consists of a rifle company and elements of Combat Support Services Troop (CSST).
