Our Twilight concert series takes place at the state-of-the-art music facility, the Defence Force School of Music (DFSM). The complex is located within Simpson Barracks, Macleod.
The primary purpose of these concerts is to give trainees and students under training necessary on-the-job experience relevant to the course they are undertaking. Training includes the Basic Musician, Section Leader, Group Leader, Assistant Band Leader and Band Offi cer courses. Assistant Band Leader and Band Officer candidates conduct and compere the ‘At Home' concerts, gaining vital experience for their future roles in Defence Bands.
The nature of the courses means that repertoire needs to be demanding for students. Concert-goers are guaranteed to witness a spectacular display of versatility at every concert. Dates for the 2009 concert series are listed below.
Twilight concerts begin at 8pm on Henderson Bandstand, DFSM. Bring a rug and picnic basket to enjoy the concert on our lawns.
The Twilight concerts play an important part in the training of Australian Defence Force musicians. The staff and trainees of the DFSM wish to thank the ‘Friends of the Band' for their commitment to making these concerts a success!
Given that twilight concerts are outdoors, bookings are not necessary. Crew Street gate opens at 6.30pm on the evening of the concert. No tickets will be issued. Ushers will assist you with parking.
