Australia Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicle

Bushmaster is specially designed to meet the requirements of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to rapidly deploy battle ready troops in all field conditions. The ADF demanded a highly mobile infantry vehicle providing significant troop protection, all terrain agility and expeditionary capacity. High level crew comfort and mobility ensure rapid deployment and delivery of battle ready troops to critical areas. Bushmaster is the latest generation of High Mobility Infantry Protected vehicles.

The Thales Bushmaster family of vehicles has been developed jointly by Thales Australia and Timoney Technology Limited to provide a unique combination of protection, mobility and comfort.

The integrated vee-shaped armoured hull protects occupants by deflecting mine blasts anywhere under the vehicle. Protection is also provided from side blasts from improvised and roadside explosive devices (IED) and fragment shaped projectiles (FSP).

Windows also carry similar ballistic protection. Bushmaster's fuel and hydraulic tanks are positioned outside the crew's compartment to ensure that the crew is protected from possible fires resulting from blasts or ballistic attack. There is also a protected emergency fuel tank.

This combination makes the vehicle ideally suited for a range of applications including policing, peacekeeping, troop transport, weapons platform and protected logistics.

The integral features provide the Bushmaster with a comprehensive range of performance and protection capabilities without the need for costly, bulky and complex add-on kits.

Bushmaster's durability and reliability are proven as a result of over 250,000 km of controlled testing.

The Bushmaster platform has been selected by the Australian Army as the basis for their Infantry Mobility Vehicle. Bushmaster is currently in operational service and in full rate production at Thales Australia's Bendigo facility.

Thales Australia is supplying 300 Infantry Mobility Vehicles to equip infantry regiments with the capability of safe and rapid deployment incorporating a range of options. The vehicle will be supplied in six variants.
