Career Advisers
In consultation with members:
- Actively manage the careers of individual soldiers on a corps, rank and trade basis.
- Balance career development needs, personal goals and units' needs to ensure the best available person is selected to meet service needs and capability.
- Select soldiers for promotion, trade or specialists courses.
- Post soldiers into appointments which will develop them professionally.
- Identify members who have the qualifications, recommendations and attributes necessary for advancement and ensure that their case is presented at the PAC or special PAC each year.
- Consult with soldiers' superiors, in regards to career management.
- Identify those members who have indicated an interest and have potential to be successful applicants for AICS.
- Liaise with the transition cell in order to identify those members who may be interested in transferring to the GRES or conducting FTS/DA 50.
- Carry out briefings and presentations regarding soldier career management in order to educate soldiers and units on APA-S processes and improve liaison between APA-S and units.
- Provide advice to the SO1 SCM on the impact of vacancies within units.
- Assist in developing priorities for postings to Non-Corps positions.
Admin Support
- Provide administrative management support to the operation of career management of GRES ORs in the ER.
- In consultation with the CMs, develop posting profiles for all NCOs in the ER.
- Provide advice and support to the managers at APA-S regarding the administration of GRES ORs.
- Provide administrative support to the CMs within SCM.
- Liaise with SCMA.
- Provide technical advice to units and formations regarding the administration of GRES members.
- Produce Record of Service and other information to authorised personnel as required.
- Liaise with other services or external agencies where applicable.
