Who and When can I contact my Career Manager?

All Career Managers at APA Melbourne are in the Army Reserve and as such, generally parade on Tue evening.
What are the requirements of working under DA(50)?
APA Melbourne's instruction for employment in the Southern Region of members of the Standby Reserve under Sub-Section 50(4) of the Defence Act 1903, dated 14 Mar 08 can be found on our publications page under "Instructions". A copy of the DA-50 Application is also available.
Who's responsibility is it to maintain Standby RES list for both Officers and Enlisted members?
The Army National Standby Reserve Agency (ANSRA) is a new agency dedicated to administer Standby Reserve members, supplement ARA and AR vacancies and maintain a capability pool to facilitate expansion.
What happens if members provisionally promoted, can not be panelled on a required promotion course due to no Reserve positions?
Soldiers who are provisionally promoted will normally be given 12 months to become fully qualified.
DI (A) PERS 47-11 details requirements for provisional promotions. In circumstances beyond the soldier's control, the promotion authority may authorise the retention of provisional rank for periods of six months up to a maximum of three years.
I parade on Wednesday evening, how do I get access to my Career Manager?
The Director of APA-M is cognisant of varying hours SR units parade and have directed both Officer and Soldier Career Managers to utilise all means of communications to enhance management of personnel within the SR. CMs will attempt to visit each unit and personally interview 80% of their workforce in a given year and have regular contact with Unit HQ staff. If you have major concerns regarding your career management, please utilise your chain of command who will contact the appropriate area within APA.
Is APA Melbourne responsible for amending unit positions?
No, APA Melbourne can not amend any positions. DI(A) Admin 27-4 and DI(A) Admin 27-1 detail the process for establishment or manning variations.
Is there any chance of being selected for Operations whilst in the Reserves in the Southern Region?
Yes. Army Reserve units around Australia provide personnel for certain Operations generally as a formation. Individual reinforcements are requested for by the relevant controlling authorities and are not controlled by APA Melbourne.
Who are the 'promotion authorities'?
Within a unit, the CO is the promotion authority upto the rank of Corporal. However, close consultation with APA-M should occur to ensure the member is suitably qualified and a position exists for the member at the higher rank. The Director of APA-M, or his delegate, is the promotion authority to the rank of SGT through to MAJ.
