Adventurous Training and the AAA

Army Alpine Association is an authorised adventurous training association which means that the President can authorise the conduct of an adventurous training activity.

All AAA authorised adventurous training activities are a form of ADF training and are conducted in accordance with Defence policies and requirements.

How to Organise Adventurous Training

Anyone can organise an adventurous training activity.

However, for the activity to be an authorised activity, it must be approved by:

  • the unit commander (ie CO) for unit adventurous training
  • the President for association adventurous training

The benefits of conducting an authorised activity may include:

  • duty status for participants
  • access to Defence resources such as rations, accommodation, transport and equipment
  • access to funding
  • other support from Defence
