Welcome |

Members of the 8th Combat Service Support Battalion (8 CSSB) can be found at Dundas in Sydney (just north of Parramatta) and Adamstown in Newcastle. We recruit soldiers to come and work as drivers, medics, storespersons, clerks, cooks and tradespersons (mechanic's, fitters etc). If you live near those two areas and have been thinking about joining the Army Reserve then let me explain what we have to offer.
This unit is formed from some of the proudest units in the Australian Army. The Medical Company served during the First World War and has won respect over the years as one of Australia's finest. The Supply Company is considered to be one of the original units formed over 70 years ago when the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps was raised. The Transport Company is better known as 16 Transport Company and has been a famous landmark and community force in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley since the 1940's. Soldiers from Transport Company were called out to help during the Maitland Floods and the Newcastle Earthquake and have numerous awards and commendations for their community service on such occasions. The Workshop Company is also located at Adamstown and is more famously known as 111 Field Workshop. Over the years many respected tradesmen and soldiers from the Second World War and Vietnam have served with this unit.
If you are wondering what joining us would do for you, then my answer is that we can give you the opportunity to belong, you will develop a group of very tight friends. We will provide you with the training to contribute to the defence of your country and you will share the respect from the Australian community that Reservists enjoy. We will pay you tax-free money and we will provide you with opportunities to develop skills which you can carry forward into your everyday life. If you have ever thought about joining the Reserves then give us a call.
