What you will learn

This is a physically challenging unit.

Learn and upgrade skills such as:

Weapons::
Artillery Field Gun 105 mm Howitzer
81mm Mortars,
Steyr and Minimi,
Living in the field

Advanced:
Computing the Artillery gun data;
Long range communications
Four wheel driving with Trucks and Landrovers

Personal skills:
Teamwork
Self defence
Maintenance of physical fitness
Personal discipline

Adventure Training, for example rappelling, canoeing, BMXing.

These are just a few of the skills you will learn when you become a soldier with 7 Field Battery Army Reserve.

7 Field Battery also participates in community events and provides members for Regal salutes on occasions such as ANZAC Day, Opening of Parliament, Australia Day, the Queens birthday and many more.

Gun Number (Gunner) ECN 162

Gunners from 7 Field Battery operate the 105mm, 2 tonne howitzers. They conduct direct, indirect and anti-tank fire. They operate one of the largest weapons in the Army. Gunners also conduct infantry activities such as attacks, ambushing and clearing patrols whilst in the field.

Command Post Operator (Gunner) ECN 162 / 254

The Gunners in the command post provide command, control and coordination of up to 6 artillery guns. They perform survey, computer data entry and combat duties. Command Post Operators use traditional survey equipment and state-of-the-art military GPS interfacing hardware and software.

Ring up and make an arrangement to visit us on a Tuesday night starting at 7 PM for about an hour. We are open for business and are very happy to provide you with information about us or any unit within 13 Brigade and/or arrange visits with them after you see us.
