Mount Isa and Gulf of Carpenteria information is freely available on the internet and is more comprehensive than what can be detailed on this web site. However, for a town of only 20,000, Mount Isa is serviced by public and private schools, a Base Hospital, numerous sporting and recreational clubs and has the added advantage of Lake Moondarra as a venue for water sports and fishing.

Mount Isa is currently serviced by Qantas as the regional airline who operated regular services to Townsville and Cairns, Qantas also flies regularly to Brisbane. Unfortunately Mount Isa has not yet attracted the discount carriers so does not enjoy the cheap airfares offered to those on the East Coast and capital cities. Mount Isa is approximately ten hours drive to Townsville on a well-maintained duel lane sealed road.
