Welcome
to Support Company, 2/17 RNSWRBeing the Support Company of the Battalion our activities are varied, depending on the specialist qualifications one pursues. The Support Company is located at Blacktown and includes an Assault Pioneer Platoon, a Direct Fire Support Weapons Platoon, Mortar Platoon and Signals Platoon.
An Assault Pioneer is a jack of all trades, who complete various activity of construction from fortifications, to undertaking water craft training, to demolitions using explosives.
The Direct Fire Support Weapon Platoon carry the anti-armour capability as well as the heavy machine guns for the Battalion.
The Mortar Platoon are critical in providing fire support during the attack and work closely with Artillery units.
Finally the Signals Platoon conduct activities aimed at improving communications and were recently involved in an exercise which established communications with Papua New Guinea.
Because of the nature of Support Coy, our soldiers come from near and far to be a part of what we do, some as far as Newcastle.
We parade on Tuesday nights and there is a dedicated Recruiting Officer as well as many friendly faces, who enjoy seeing new faces. The recruiting officer can be contacted on (02) 9831 7022 on weekdays.
