Premier Squadron

The Premier Squadron is the best all round Squadron in the Regiment for the Year. The trophy was presented by LTCOL John Grey in July 1979.

The Premier Squadron trophy is awarded for all round proficiency and performance in barracks administration and maintenance, field training, unit competitions and general military duties.

Squadron Gunnery

The Inter Squadron Gunnery competition is conducted annually as part of the training cycle of the Regiment. It is normally determined from the Squadrons' results at the Stage 4 qualifiaction and competition but may also include Stage 5 shooting results.

In the future the award of the Cambrai Trophy will also be deternmined by analysis of Squadron performance on the M1A1 gunnery simulation system.

Paratus Cup

The Paratus Cup is an annual award given to the Champion Tank Troop in 1st Armoured Regiment. The Trophy was presented to the Regiment by the 1st Armoured Regimental Group Association.

The Champion Tank Troop is determined on the basis of the best allround performance in barracks and field, particulary during the annual Paratus Cup field exercise. Field performance is scrutinised in several areas such as:

  • Vehicle Technical/mechanical condition.
  • Live Fire & Manoeuvre Stage 5 results.
  • Execution of Troop Drills and SOP.

Honorary Colonels Cup

The Honorary Colonel's Cup is awarded to the Champion Troop of the Regiment. The trophy was presented to the Regiment by His Excellence Sir Henry Wineke, KCMG, OBE, K St J, QC on 20 November 1976.

The Champion Troop of the Regiment is determined from assessment of Troop administration, maintenance, discipline, skill at arms and particulary the Regiment's annual basic military skills competition.

Tank Gunnery - Champion Crew

The Lancer Trophy is awarded to most proficient crew in Tank Gunnery.The trophy was presented to the Regiment by His Excellence MAJGEN Wajahat Husain (Pakistani Army) on 6 July 1985.

The champion Tank crew is determined during the annual Stage 4 gunnery qualification and competition. The competition relies on all four crewmen to work as a team but only the names of the Crew Commander and Gunner of the tank are recorded - reflecting their central role in the accuracy of the crew.
