Posting to the 1st Armoured Regiment should be both personally and professionally rewarding. 1st Armoured Regiment is entering into an exciting and a challenging phase, and living in the Top End offers numerous opportunities for Defence personnel and their families.

Climate
Darwin has two seasons, Wet and Dry. During the wet season (Nov-Apr) we suffer from the threat of cyclones. Cyclones can develop quickly therefore it is very important that the Regiment is aware of your location at all times, especially when you are travelling to Darwin by road during the wet season. Please use the NT weather link to access details of weather and road closures prior to your departure Note it is common place for persons travelling to Darwin by road to be stranded by floodwaters.
1 Armd Regt has contingency plans in the event of a cyclone warning. Find attached a cyclone Shelter advice form. This form is designed to capture this information required to ensure you and your family can prepare for a cyclone. To assist with unit cyclone planning please complete and return to the RHQ Orderly Room ASAP.
NOTE: Cyclone shelter advice form, the section requesting shelter advice: The nominated shelter can be your own home, temporary accommodation, A friend or family members home. It is requested that you seek details of available shelters you can access that information via the attached Cyclone links. Be advised some shelters do not allow pets.
