Redeployment

Defence is committed to assisting employees that are affected by any change management process. Affected employees will have a 7 month period in which to find another position. Excess employees will be offered training and support, be considered in isolation for positions they apply for, be placed on the APS wide redeployment register (if they agree) and may, as a final solution, be offered a voluntary retrenchment. Defence is committed to retaining the skills and knowledge of its employees and will assist the redeployment process in any way possible.

Workplace Health and Safety

Through leadership and individual commitment, Defence aims to ensure no person will suffer a serious preventable work related injury or illness.  The protection of our people is paramount. There is a process for reporting any incidents to prevent them from re-occurring.

Support is offered for any injured employees to recover and return to work. Employees can have an ergonomic assessment of their work-stations completed to ensure comfort and correct use. There are provisions for ergonomic equipment if required (chairs, etc)

Employee Assistance Program

Great importance is placed on providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

If required, this service enables Defence employees, partners and their immediate family members to resolve work related and personal issues through a number of confidential consultations with a professional counsellor at no cost.
